Breathing with Peace Lilies

Breathing with Peace Lilies
2022
Performance / Installation with peace lilies, objects, sound, 417 hz tuning pipe and collective reading
Dimensions variable

Breathing with Peace Lilies was commissioned by Compton Verney for Afterhours, in dialogue with the exhibition Dutch Flowers.

The work responded to the hidden narratives of Dutch flower painting, considering plants as carriers of beauty, trade, classification and cultural history. It brought together plants, objects, sound and collective reading to create a temporary system of attention, breath and relation.

Activated through vegetal meditations and a tuning pipe set to 417 Hz, a Solfeggio frequency associated in sound-healing practices with release and transition, the performance invited participants into a shared practice of listening with plants, bodies, vibration and atmosphere.
